Spill Kits and Absorbents

Spill Kits | Absorbent Pads | Spill Socks | Booms

To comply with HSE requirements, it is vital that all accidental spills on site are cleared and neutralised as soon as they occur.

Our emergency spill kits contain a range of spill absorbent products, many of which can also be brought separately. The different types of absorbent materials include pads, rolls & socks (also known as booms). Spillage kits should be kept anywhere where significant quantities of hazardous liquids are used (ie in warehouses, factories, tankers, oil and fuel storage and on farms).

Which kit will i need?
Use General Purpose Spill Kits for dealing with non-corrosive liquids, hydrocarbons, solvents and other aqueous and organic liquid spills that pose an environmental threat in areas such as at bulk storage, waste collection points, delivery points or near high risk areas.

Use Oil & Fuel Spill Kits for dealing with oil, hydrocarbons, solvents and other organic liquids spills. Ideal for use at bulk fuel and oil storage, waste oil collection points, fuel delivery points or near high risk areas such as rivers and canals.

Use Chemical Spill Kits for dealing chemical spills that pose an environmental threat. Areas such as Chemical storage, Chemical and Hazardous Substance collection points, Hazardous Substance delivery points or near high risk areas such as rivers and canals.

What size kit will I need?

The size of spill kit you'll require will depend on the size of your work area and the amount of liquid you deal with.
A single user in a small garage will only require one of our 15lt spill kits in a clip handle bag.

For people on the road, our spill kits in a clip top bag are also great to have in the cab of a lorry. This means that if a spill incident happens whilst out on a delivery, the materials are available on hand to contain the spill quickly.

The main difference between the sizes of spill kit is the container you get with them. The smaller kits consist of absorbent pads and spill socks in a bag. As the size increases, so you start to get storage bins included, this keeps all the elements together and creates a visual cue as to the location of the kits.

Once you get to the very largest of spill control solutions, you get large yellow wheelie bins and significant amounts of absorption pads. Our range of Wheelie Bin Spill Kits are a versatile way of storing and transporting all your spill control products, enabling you to deal with spillages quickly, safely and with minimal disruption.

Many of our wheelie bin spill kits have the option of being able to purchase refill kits. This enables you to cost effectively keep your spill kits stocked up.

How do they work?

Spill kits contain two types of absorbents; absorbent pads and spill socks. Absorbent padscan be laid on top of liquid and used to mop it up so it can be disposed of. A spill sock on the other hand is like a thick sausage of material that creates a barrier to large amounts of liquid spreading further. Dealing with a spill can often be a case of stopping the spread with a spill sock, then soaking up the liquid with the absorbent pads.

What do I do after a spill?

Once a spill has occurred, it needs to be contained and collected up. After this, it is vital that the items used to absorb the liquid are properly disposed of. The best way to do this will depend on the type of spill you have cleaned up. Sometimes the spill absorbent pads will need to be sent to landfill, other times they will need to be incinerated. It is always worth checking with the relevant authorities before disposal.

Following any spill, there will be the need to refill your kits pending the next emergency. As well as replacement kits, we sell absorbent pads and spill socks separately, meaning that refilling can be done in a cost-effective way.
